A few days before Easter, in the middle of Holy Week, an appointment not to be missed is Friday 7 April 2023 in Altilia. The fifth edition of the "Passion and Resurrection of Christ" will be staged in these parts. Months of work, lots of trials, various measures adopted to capture the attention of the visitor who, besides the scenes, will have the opportunity to get to know and admire the ancient village of Savuto. A large group of young people committed to their country and, in this case, in the creation of a large and suggestive scenic representation. A crescendo of quality for a courageous project: that of presenting, between squares and streets, the historical reconstruction of the facts and places of Christ. Over sixty actors and extras, about twenty technicians including sound engineers, stage and communication staff, dozens of volunteers located along the streets of the town. An entire team that will tell the pages of the Gospel, the last moments of our Lord's life. A route that will wind from the historic center. We will start from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with the Last Supper while in the external part of the sacred place the Olive Garden will be represented, the betrayal of Judas, the arrival of the guards and the arrest. A short distance away another setting: the meeting with Caiaphas, the high priest and head of the Sanhedrin. Then, public condemnation, the humiliation, the jostling. The story will move to the Town Hall, seat of the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate. Will follow, on the steps of the ancient convent, the scene relating to the court of Herod. The route will be characterized by the presence of Roman soldiers on horseback, centurions, men and women but also from Cyrene, of Veronica and the priests. A long procession that will turn towards the Crucifixion. In the end, in the clearing located just outside the town, the three crosses will be represented, the meeting with Maria and the last sigh. Behind the evocative open-air theater event well-known faces from the local scene following the tradition of other important editions, the one from Roglianese above all. From the organizers the invitation to reach the place in time. The event is scheduled to start in the early afternoon. The event will continue until dusk. The organizers received the collaboration of the parish and the municipal administration.
